HE Conference - Assisting providers in preparing for the QRV process (6 October) Posted on 06/10/2017 00:00:00 South West College (SWC) is hosting a Higher Education (HE) Conference on Friday 6 October 2017 in their Dungannon Campus. The aim of the event is to assist providers in preparing for the quality review visit process. The event will run from 9am to 2.30pm.

About the event

The QAA undertake Quality Review Visits (QRV) on behalf of the Department for the Economy and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The aim of the event is to assist providers in preparing for the quality review visit process. In particular, the event will support providers in NI meet the baseline requirements of a quality review visit which are due to take place in NI in Spring 2018.


Date & Venue

The event will take place on Friday 6 October 2017 from 9am to 3pm in South West College, Dungannon Campus, Circular Road, Dungannon, Co.Tyrone, BT71 6BQ. 

Car parking will is limited on the campus as the event takes place on a teaching day.  There will be some car park spaces reserved and you will see these on arrival at the Dungannon Campus (car park on left).  Therefore, where possible, car sharing is advisable.  


Agenda

The agenda will consist of a key note address (by Dr Anca Greere, QAA), a series of workshops followed by closing remarks. The event will involve Sam Parret and Ramita Tejpal from London South East College attending to share their experience of a recent QRV.

Governance: Roles and Responsibilities

  • Limited Audience. This workshop is restricted to CEO’s, Deputy CEO’s and Heads of Curriculum/ HOD’s/ Senior Managers involved in HE planning and delivery.

Consumer Protection

How to ensure consumer protection obligations are met through effective policy and procedure

Handling Complaints and the Good Practice Framework

How to ensure policy and procedure around course closures, changes are transparent and communicated to students in a timely manner

  • This workshop is open to ALL delegates and will take place on 3 occasions at 10.00, 11.15 and 13.30

Quality Review Process

  • Limited Audience. Within the 6 FE Colleges, St Mary’s and Stranmillis College - this workshop is restricted to Quality Managers, facilitators and student lead reps only.  Colleges to decide other delegates as appropriate.

  • Limited Audience. This workshop is open to Lead Student Reps only and will be held during the lunch break


The timings and location of each workshop is illustrated below.  The frequency of each workshop will also depend on demand.

Workshop 2 (G70)   10.00, 11.15 and 13.30
Workshop 3  (G71) 10.00, 11.15 and 13.30
Workshop 4  (G72) 10.00, 11.15 and 13.30
Workshop 5  (G87) 12.15 and 13.30
Workshop 6  (G72) 12.15

Those attending a workshop at 12.15 will have their lunch from 13.00 to 13.30. 



Who should attend?

The event is open to staff from FE Colleges, HEIs (QUB, Ulster, Stranmillis and St Mary's) and other stakeholders including DfE, HEFCE and QAA.

Places will be limited per organisation.    Some workshops - as per the notes above - have a limited audience. 

Places at the event are limited to 15 delegates per FE College (FE delegates should seek Line Manager approval prior to booking) and 5 delegates for each other external stakeholder organisation.
